Glass Exhibition and against all odds
Monument-National, Montreal — 2010
The exhibition "En Verre et contre tout" at the Monument-National was born from a conversation between Yves Lessard and me about glass, the body and spatial arrangement.
In this context, I created the PLASTRON dress, a sculptural piece to be worn.
A hundred pieces of glass, pierced by hand — more than 600 perforations — then fused together.
Approximately 400 bronze and copper rings connect the elements and give movement to the whole.
The dress weighs nearly 30 pounds.
It is worn, displayed, illuminated.
It becomes an inhabited sculpture.
Other creators are also involved.
The project transcends the object. It becomes space.
A demanding work.
A foundational gesture.
